Times of India announced restructuring and which included various elevations and the appointment of Rohit Saran as Executive Editor .
Saran has held a string of leadership positions over the past decade- executive editor of India Today, editor of Money Today and Business Today, executive editor of The Economic Times, editor-at-large with the India Today Group, and editor of Khaleej Times. As executive editor of ET, he launched ET Wealth and re-launched ET on Sunday, and helped drive several value-enhancing changes in the main paper. In the last three years, he has immersed himself in new digital, data and mobile journalism initiatives.
Saran will, to begin with, oversee the business and features sections, work closely with the design & graphics team, as well as seek technology solutions to further enhancing coordination between editions. He will be involved in the overall operations of the paper as well.
The announcement also touched upon the elevation of Diwakar to Executive Editor from his current position of Associate EE. Diwakar was Political Editor at ET before he moved to TOI in 2004 as Political Editor and Chief of the National Bureau.
Arindam Sen has been redesignated Managing Editor of TOI. Rohit and Diwakar will report to Arindam as well as to Jojo.
Derick D’Sa. who is at present Deputy EE is being elevated to Associate Executive Editor; in addition to running Mumbai, he will oversee Pune. Nagpur. Goa and Madhya Pradesh. He will also serve as national resource person to template Times City in other editions.
Vikas Singh is being elevated to Deputy Executive Editor from his current position as Assistant EE. Besides managing Delhi and the front page, Singh will oversee UP, Punjab. Haryana and Rajasthan.
Shankar Raghuraman is being elevated to Deputy Executive Editor from his current position of Assistant Executive Editor.
